MvM's World, Entry #10 - Andrew Gold Passes Away
I am about 5 days late on this one, but another one of my all time favorite music writers and composers has passed away. On June 3rd, Andrew Gold passed in his sleep at the age of 59 after having been treated for cancer.
This is some more about him taken right from his Wikipedia page:
Andrew Maurice Gold (August 2, 1951 – June 3, 2011) was an American singer, musician and songwriter. His works include the Top 10 single "Lonely Boy" (1977), as well as the singles "Thank You for Being a Friend" (1978), and "Never Let Her Slip Away" (1978).
His rendition of the theme from the television series Mad About You, titled "Final Frontier," was used as the wake-up call for the Mars Pathfinder space probe in 1996.
Gold was a prolific multi-instrumentalist as artist, producer, film composer, session musician, actor, painter, and singer.

Of course, "Thank You For Being A Friend" was written by Andrew, but was made even more famous when it was rerecorded by Cynthia Fee for use as the theme song to the 1980's hit TV series, 'The Golden Girls'.
Because everyone already knows that song by heart at this point, I am going to leave you with some other stuff by him, and they are also my personal favorites.
Rest in Piece Andrew. Your music was wonderful, and your talents were often underestimated. You were absolute..... Gold.

MvM's World, Entry #5 - Work and Music
Been a really long work day so far, and it's only half way done. Ugh!
Been using my Rhapsody account to get my 'Queen' fix. Been listening to alot of Queen the last couple of days actually. I guess I go through phases. Just finished playing my favorite Queen album:
Now I am moving onto Greatest Hits III so I can play the Under Pressure 'Rah Mix'. It's really good. :)
The gloominess of the weather and rain, added to me being tired and also being at work is making for a very dull day, and one that is going so slooooooooow.
Other than working, and listening to music, there isn't much going on at the moment. That never lasts long though. I am sure something is bound to happen soon.
I'll be back......
